Fake News …

Fake News is propaganda, but propaganda is not always Fake News.  Propaganda can be a red hot dagger of truth targeted for effect.

No matter how appealing and tempting it is to stick it to the Goodfellas, one must take great care before doing so.

What’s not to like about Sheriff David Clarke?  He’s a champion of American values.  How sad it is to see egg on his face.  Conservative Sheriff Clarke didn’t take care.

zclarke“The following visual is declared “FALSE” by Snopes.  It’s not clear who created this meme (visual), but it was provided with greater online reach after it was posted to Facebook by David Clarke, the former Sheriff of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump. In an edited Facebook post, Clarke later acknowledged that the quotations were made up from the Babylon Bee and apologized for what he called the “glaring omission” of failing to mention (at first) that the underlying source was satirical.” The foregoing is a Snopes’ synopsis.   Read the Snopes story here https://goo.gl/cS3J2xzfake2

White Propaganda, “A red hot dagger of truth targeted for effect and predetermined purpose.”

Quotes by the Goodfellas in the following video appear to be authentic largely because their pictures match their voices and match the circumstances with which we are intimately familiar.  However, were this to be prepared for presentation in a court of law, we’d have provided much more supporting evidence and documentation such as voice print analysis and the entire context surrounding the quotes.

For argument’s sake, we are satisfied that the  Goodfellas in the video said what they said for purposes of deceiving the public with their propaganda.   And … yes … we were deceived. So, we’ll ask and answer two questions:

Q-Is it propaganda? A-Yes most definitely.

Q-Is it Fake News?  A-Not fake in the sense that they really said what they said.  But is fake with respect to the underlying truth of the messages.  He said he didn’t but in fact did have sexual relations.

Out-and-out lies = Black Propaganda (fake news) … Lies mingled with Truth = Grey Propaganda (fake news) … The truth targeted for effect = White Propaganda no fake news.  However, white propaganda may not be newsworthy.  The iterations of this can become convoluted.

P.S.

Just in from Axios, “President Trump made 4,229 false or misleading claims during his first 558 days in office— an average of nearly 7.6 Trumpian claims a day, according to the WashPost’s Fact Checker.  [T]he average number of claims per day keeps climbing the longer Trump stays in office: When we first started this project for the president’s first 100 days, he averaged 4.9 claims a day. This June and July, the president averaged 16 claims a day.”  Do you believe the foregoing?

The next question one must ask, “Is the WashPost’s Fact Checker credible?”  Next, “Is the Post report propaganda?”  We’ll answer that, “Yes!”  Next, “What kind of propaganda is it … black … grey … white?”  Finally, “How are we to know?”  Answer, “The only way we as individuals can truly know is if we in person ran the numbers and did a deep dive into the conclusions derived from those numbers.”  Given the information as it exists, if we are to truly believe that President Trump made those 4,229 false or misleading statements, we must then willingly suspend our disbelief … the process of which flies in the face of reason and good sense and good judgement.

Final comment, “Liars figure and figures lie.” The Axios, media bias is …. according to Compliments of Media Bias Fact Check … as follows:
