Cougar Release in Utah

See the video below as Conservation officer Mark Ekins earns every cent of his paycheck.   He shows us how to release a cougar from a trap in the mountains of Utah. He works for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and they are often called upon to release cougars caught in traps set for coyotes or bobcats. Many large cougars can get themselves out of these small traps but this one needed a little assistance. Since it was in a remote area Mark didn’t want to waste time going back to the main office to get a tranquilizer gun so he decided to release the cougar without sedating it. The cougar was successfully released and only had some minor bleeding on it’s paw. A job well done by officer Ekins.  6min
